Wow rate there is very low, the test is to get into the apprenticeship I did not take. But after that I know to top out and become a journy lineman is 5-7 yrs on average. I just got my cousin involved in it and he started 1 month ago in NJ he said start for him was $22.00. But like i said it is all on were you live.
You should look into IBEW what ever local is by you. Give them a call they will tell you details but you will get a package fill it out etc drug test background test all that. And then you start the aprenticeship. You will start off by flagging cars etc traffic saftey and work you way up to working on powerlines. It is alot of fun. You will learn alot this way but it is long takes normaly 5-7yrs depends on how much work there is in your area if you get laid off etc. I heard in CA there is alot of work. Problem is you work at get paid for 5 days but on saturdays you have to go to your local and do a class. Climbing etc, and other things and you dont get paid for that but its only a few hrs and you will have homework etc through all of this. But you will make good money. We went on storm work up north. I was lowest paid at the time on $23 hr.
