Maybe they should get rid of some of these rights and freedoms that people abuse. They were written 100 years ago when times were different.

Make people piss test for their welfare check. If they fail...no check for them.

Make people do community service for their welfare check. At least you are getting some menial labor out of the lazy fucks.

Make people do care giving for their checks....help with the massive shortage of long term care facilities for elderly people.

Heck.....just make them do something for their checks.

See, the problem is you're just making **** up. My characterization of the republican party was accurate, yours is just exaggerated bullshit.

They could....People like me reduce charitable giving to help offset the taxes.
So instead of the charity of my choice (usually Boys and Girls Club) getting a check for $X,XXX, that money will now go to the government. Makes herra sense.

Not only is it correct morally, it sustains our economy. Is the reduced charity donations a shame? I think there is a misconception among those who haven't ever made real money that those that do get to keep all of it and wallow around in it like Uncle Scrooge. Quite the opposite. There is intense pressure for you to donate to various charities (some of which are company sponsored), spend a good amount on all the little kids school fund raisers, you have to have nicer clothes for business meetings, you are expected to tip well at nicer resturants, etc. There are tons of small costs that I incur because of my status that a kid at McDonald's would never be encouraged to do.

Yeah, I'm sure that kid at McDonalds is really living a better life that you are, without those horrible responsibilities that come with being rich or well off. Write a letter to him asking for help...

Not technically. But it can act as one. It takes money from people very well off and helps out people less fortunate. Isn't that what a charity does? It is more powerful (in a good way) and more effective than any charity can possibly be.

Ok. And? Socialist policies can work. Look at Social Security and Medicare. Enormously successful. Building all those roads and highways? Incredibly successful. Airports and commercial flight? Subsidized and regulated by the government (socialism). Federal pell grants and student aid? Extremely successful application of socialism. Just labeling something as socialism doesn't make it bad to anyone who is educated and intelligent. (more and more though it seems that rules you out)
