wow it's been awhile since ive posted on here haha, I've been out of the audio world for about 7 months now since i traded in my car and bought a GTI

but i've been bit by the audio bug again....

im looking for some suggestions on what to do. i really want to kind of keep it stealthy, and classy.

I'm definitely going for a setup that'll sound good with everything, i don't want to be really loud, i just want it to be quality and music oriented.

the only thing i have 100% decided on is the HU, which will be the pioneer D3, because i want navi, a dvd player would make long trips more tolerable, i also like the ipod adapter pioneer has to offer (99% of the time i use my ipod for music, it's so much easier than lugging around a gigantic book of CD's)

SO

what im looking for, is a quality component set, that will sound good in the stock locations (possibly AZbass will chime in here) doors will be deadened and all of that.

what i like out of my mids is: being able to feel the snare drum, excellent kickdrum, and "warm" midbass. also I'd like to keep the power under 150 RMS per side.

i won't be running any kind of rear speakers, you can barely hear the stock ones now.

for a sub, im looking for SQ, tight kick drum, but be able to go down pretty low. no bigger than 12", it'd prefer a 10". I'd like to keep it sealed as well

i want to also keep the power as low as possible, so i don't have to do an alternator upgrade, and i don't want any dimming what so ever

as for a budget, I'd say I'd like to do the whole thing(wires, amps and everything) (minus the headunit) for under a grand, it's going to be a slow build anyways because i'll be doing it over the winter.

thanks for any suggestions, i guess I've re-introduced myself with n00b status, so take it easy!

PS: please don't post your "buy this from me!" things, or don't send me PMs about stuff you have for sale, im just going to try to plan this out first.

wow no one got back to you.i don't kno enough to help you,but i had a power akoustic. fubar 12 those would do the trick for the thump, you could even get a 10 they are sealed and portable. about 300 watts for the 10 would do it nicely.

Just an Ohio thread going on here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I would say that you will get a large selection of comps to choose from. So many GREAT sets out there. Rainbow is really popular on here. I really like CDT (although I would not recommend my current set as they are a bit lacking in the midbass). Boston Acoustics are good to check out....crystals were really popular if you can find them.

I'm pretty sure they will suggest a FI sub for your needs. I ran a JL 10W3 a LONG time ago, sealed and it wasn't be any means loud, but was really accurate. *ponders* Mach audio, ED, FI,.

Do you want to run your comps off the HU or perhaps get a multi-channel and bridge 3/4 for the sub and run the front off channels 1/2?

Maybe a DIYMA Reference 12" for the sub?

Pioneer 720PRS for component set?

Just throwing some stuff out there.

Some good amps to keep in budget would be the Blaupunkt Velocity series, or maybe RF Punch 25 to Life.

a 5 channel amp would be nice, bridge the front and back together to run the fronts.

yes i definately do intend on amping the comps. i was thinking a JL sub, i loved my 12w6v2 i had before i traded my car, it was so accurate, but i'd like to get something a little cheaper. i love a sub that makes "warmer" bass, i don't know how to explain it, a guess i just appreciate a sub that sounds better over one that just gets obnoxiously loud.

i heard a set of rainbows i really liked although i never got a chance to ask what model they were

Since your looking for SQ and not loudness, I will recommend Rainbow SLC kicks for the front stage. If your budget allows, step up to the Germanium or CMX line. The two latter sets can handle more power than you want to give them, but definitely don't need it to sound awesome.

As for subs, I am currently running 2 Fi Q 12"s. I know you don't want and/or need that much output, but a can without a doubt recommend the 10" version. A single 10 will be able to produce enough output and retain the SQ your looking for.

I get all of my Rainbow equipment from 6spdcoupe here on the forums. He is an Authorized dealer. Fi can be purchased on http://www.ficaraudio.com They are an online dealer only.
