alright , heres the deal

i got a pretty heavy substage,

2 15 dual 4 ssi treos

on a american bass vfl 150.1 runnin at 1 ohm

i got 4 gauge ran and stock bat and alt, , pretty basic

i got a 80 amp fuse under the hood, and it will not freakn pop,

is my alt not strong enough to produce that much current or what!?

i would realy like to get more the 1000 watts outa the amp lol,, i know im putn out sum power also because i hit 145 sealed box

hopefully theres a dif way to go then get a new alt for hundreds of bucks

unless you're blasting test tones for extended periods of time there's no reason an 80A fuse should blow. You can have bursts well over 100A, even ~150A w/o blowing that fuse.

Don't know what alt you have, but even if it's being maxed out at high volume you have a battery sitting there that can deliver several hundred amps at ~12.5v when/if needed.

my stock battery is okay its not dying,

i just realy think the alt cant push enough current through the vehicle to break 80 amps,,

also im not sure how it all works anyway, the alt and the battery,

also idling is 1 volt of drop okay cuz thats what im getn, i go from 13 to 12

^^just dont let it go below 12 or you risk damaging the amp. That is actually not bad though, i drop about 2.5 volts idling if i really crank it but that is with stock everything and an optical dry cell under the hood to give you some comparison....

how do i know f my alt is bad
bad alts don't charge batteries - dead/weak batteries won't start cars.

If your car turns over strong when you try to start it your alt is working fine.

As I said above - even if your alt can't deliver 80A to your amp (which it can't because the car draws 30-50A on its own) the voltage will sag until the battery becomes the voltage/current source. It is capable of several hundred amps for short periods of time.

Your fuse isn't blowing because a 1200w class D amp doesn't draw enough current to blow it.

FWIW - I ran an 1100w system (400 a/b, 700 D) for several years and never had an issue w/an 80A fuse.

You have a blown cap in the amp more than likely. Had the same thing happen to a soundstream amp.

Getting a good voltage reading does not mean good power transfer. You could read 13.8v out of a 24 AWG wire. Recheck your amplifier's ground and...
