Efficiency Variation between Planet Audio TT850 and OPTI2000D

So I now have a lanzar opti2000D and at night I did a little test. I turned my stereo up and noticed that my lights aren't dimming. This amp should be putting out at least 1000 rms even with my gain turned down @ 1 ohm. My planet audio TT850D put out 850rms @1 ohm and caused insane dimming which eventually lead to its death. Is it really possible that the Opti amp is that much more efficient or is it way overrated? Now I'm starting to think that I may not need an aftermarket alternator even though right now my total system's rms is at least 1500 watts. Factory alt. puts out 90 amps. 90X14=1,260 watts.

ALSO the Opti didn't come with a birthsheet so all I have to go by is the numbers on the box.

planet audio rating are just about right on if not a little under rated
That I knew as their amps come with birthsheets to prove it. It was the lanzar that I was worried about being overrated power wise.

Okay I figured it would be an obvious phrase but I was wrong. What is used to measure efficiency? Signal to noise ratio? I know this is the case for speakers so is it also true for amps?

If so:

PA= 102DB

OPTI=90DB

PA wins

Any other specs to go by?

s/n has nothing to do with efficiency...

The lanzar is powerful and efficient.

I believe S/N does have something to do with efficiency because if you're amp is using power to produce noise vs sound it is putting out less sound per watt. But I guess agree to disagree. Then again this wouldn't explain the dimming anyway as an amp is only going to put out so much power. S/N doesn't determine how much power is used as this is independent of S/N. I guess you're right lol.

Thanks for posting stats.
