eDO vs HX2

I currently have 2 RF HX2 subs.

I was thinking of replacing them with 2 eDO subs.

I am also upgrading my amp to a PG Tantrum 1200.1.

the amp upgrade is a defininite. My question is will it be too much for the eD to handle and which sub will it push harder?

those are two completely differnet types of subs...the O will definitely sound better and probably get pretty close to the spl of the hx2 if you install it right......the hx2's would probably get a little louder.. but sound like a loud fart doing it...and the O's should handel 600 a piece easily ... keep those sealed though :patriotic:

for who ever said the Hx2's will sound like shit, Dont speak please. Ive had hx2's, and if put in the right box, they sound awsome and get loud. My friend is running them right now in sealed box, and they sound just fine to me. Now tell me this, If Hx2's are shitty soundin subs, then why are there people usin this sub in SQ comps?

SQ is subjective to the listener, maybe he just doesn't like the way they sounded when he heard them...

SQ to SPL argument...I love this.

The best way to get a true definition of SQ is to compare subs. A lot of ppl who have had subs like the HX2, Comp VR's, etc...have never owned a sub like a Diamond Audio M5 or the like. Therefore, they think anything sounds good.

SQ is subjective to the listener and that is the best way to put it. I'm not a SQ person b/c I like SPL. I really could give a **** how "great" a sub sounds b/c I only use my "good" subs for burbs. For my daily driving, I use two Thunder 8000 12"s, sealed off a MTX 1000d. That's almost insane for daily driving.

MY SPL SUBS....ROOOOARH. Are my 2 L7 12"s...sit in my car for a minute. I'm sure you couldn't deal with it.

Oh yea, and for the guy who said HX2's are winning SQ comps, that's because of the setup that the car is in. I bet I could get a Piece of Sh*t 75 Impala that is a pure rust bucket, and put a full Alpine Audio System in it with all the works...the Rockford Car would win b/c it looks better.

SQ Judges look at the car, then they hear the music. If it were vice versa, then SQ competitions would be equal

I have the HX2 now and they sound real good even with only a 700s Rockford amp going to them.

I'm replacing the amp without a doubt. I've just heard so much about the EdO that i was wondering if it was worth replacing the sub also..

Thanks for all the replies

what i think you should do is definetly replace the amp. Then u should make urself a big ported box tuned to about 30-34hz or so. If u arent happy with ur subs then upgrading to O's would be great as well. Hx2's can get very very loud. If u want subs that get as loud as them but sound 20x better U need some Resonant engineering SE's.

i wasn't trying to knock on anyone who likes the sq of the hx2, but in the three install's i've seen the sub it...all different types of boxes...i couldn't come close to the sq of my single 12 k....and yes...sq is personal opinion.....and yes...se's are a very nice choice

where are you getting this info from?

(hx2's would probably get a little louder) - 100% wrong! hx2's are a lot louder!

there's a big difference
