Which would be a better buy ? I can get about 60 square feet of v1se2 for $107 shipped or 95 square feet of v12 for the same price . Planning on getting either one of these soon but I'm wondering if it's better to wait for warmer temps .

I'd suggest waiting for a better product. I've been testing v1SE² and am less than enthusiastic. Definitely lowest heat tolerance of any butyl mat, but my real concern is their decision to use Mylar instead of a aluminum foil constraining layer. This is purely to cut costs. Other manufacturers have tried the same thing and given up because it performed so poorly.

ED reps like to state that sound deadening is only about adding mass to panels. This is wrong. It is about adding mass, converting sound energy to heat via visco-elasticity AND stiffening the panel to reduce flex and deformation. Mylar is MUCH less effective because it is so flimsy. These products also act as barriers - blocking sound. The most effective barriers are made by layering materials with different densities. Butyl adhesive + aluminum foil = different density and good. Mylar is much closer to the adhesive's density and therefore less effective.

I'd also like to point out that after a year of me complaining that ED was overstating the mass of their previous asphalt based eDead by 25%, they chose to not supply that spec for the new stuff. This makes it impossible to make an informed decision and seems like a very strange move for people claiming that mass is all that matters.

I have heard nothing but bad feedback about eDead. On the other hand, I currently use RaaMat and have had no problems with it. I installed it in the late fall last year, and had no problems installing it due to temperature. Just had to make sure the surface was free of dust and such, and used a roller to keep out all air pockets. Worked great, and according to what i have heard and read, its the best buy for the price.
