ED e12K related at all to SI BM?

Actually the older BM's were intended as more of a sub geared towards being loud and still sounding OK, than a sub that got pretty loud and sounded really good. It just so happened that our "OK" sounding subwoofer got reviewed very well because it still sounded really good compared to the competition.

PS: The part numbers for the baskets are more than likely very similar no matter where you order them from. They're all made in one country by one factory. I'll let you guess which country. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif Even if you order the subs from factory B, factory B is ordering the baskets from factory A.

If you're after sheer loudness you might want to look at an MT or something similar.

You're still talking about a subwoofer rated at 600 watts and geared towards a good mix of SPL and SQ. ...not a 1500 watt power handling beast.

not saying that. i am not an SPL freak, but i understand that i want my bass to be audible. Let me rephrase......I expected the BM to be louder than my elemental designs 13ov.2, and it was not. It was quieter. It does sound slightly better, though, and i love the drier sound and impact.

I am not new to nice subs, and i have used a Diamond TDX, soundsplinter RL-P, ED 13ov.2, e12k, etc.

I also understand that different enclosures can affect the subs differently, and i was just curious about the response before i spent the time to rebuild one.

Thanks for your advice.

The box does make a significant difference. The first box you listed was tuned too low and the second box was too small. As far as how "much" louder it would be in the right box, I can't say. What I can say is that there's a reason why we recommended one sealed enclosure and one ported enclosure for each of the sizes of BM's and not a couple ported and a couple sealed.

Hoss's BM system was built exactly to our spec. Each subwoofer had exactly 2 ft^3 and the enclosure was tuned to 34 Hz. He did everything but literally destory his truck with that system...he sure as hell damaged the truck enough though. But I guess that's what 8 BM 12's does for ya. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
