Eclipse SW8200

There is no set size. I sale these subs and have had the sub through my car, i feel it should be in quite a big box. Maybe 1.8 - 3.0 Cu. Everyone has a diff idea though. Depends on what sound you like. Smaller = Tighter Sound. Smaller= More need for power. Good Luck.

Remotia recommended 3.0-5.0 cu ft. im probably gunna end up with one around 3 cubes on about 750w.

Anybody know what the final load the amplifier will see using this motor? I have seen specs for it saying both 4 ohm and 3 ohm.

If it is truely 3 ohms, then an amplifier that puts out 600w rms @ 4 and 1200 @ 2 ohms will put out roughly 900 w rms @ 3 ohms (estimated)

Is this correct ?

I should've thought of it earlier, but I measured the resistance on the wires I have as it connects to the amp. It reads 3.5 ohms

So if it's 3.5 ohms, then an amp that produces 600w @ 4 ohms and 1200w @ 2 ohms should put out 750w @ 3.5 ohms?

No.

What you measure with the DMM is the Re (or DCR) of the subwoofer. This is different than the impedance. The Re is a "constant" value. The impedance, however, will vary with frequency, enclosure size, etc. This is why it's called the "nominal" impedance...it's more of an average that the subwoofer will present over it's intended operating range.

So, in short.....the 3.5ohm you measured is not the same thing as the subwoofer's nominal impedance.

BCAE has a pretty good write-up on the difference:
