I've thought about getting 4 8's to replace my 12" 06 L7. . . Would 4 8" AA assassins get as loud as an L7 with 750 watts? (Roughly 200watts per woofer.) Are there other cheap 8's that may do better? By the way, the assassins would be ported tuned to 40hz.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif My thinking is that it would be louder and maybe even sound a little better. But that is merely from what I've read concerning cone area and such. I've never actually heard an 8" sub in action. Would the 8's work in a setup used solely for rap? They're loud... Don't have the SQ I was looking for but they're loud.

4 rl-i8 or tc1k8's will be stupid loud of 2kwatts

in 1 cubes shared sealed

or 1.6cubes shared ported tuned to 30hz with 40 square inch port

I did. 1.0 after w/10sq^in tuned @ 32.

Either way, they get low, very loud. Just not as accurate as I'd like.

That tuning is too low for those drivers. I would actually hesitate to call them subs. Call them woofers and use them accordingly and I think you might get the SQ you are looking for. Don't expect them to get low and sound good at the same time ported. They'll better meet you expectations if you expect one or the other. You could also give up a bit of output and go sealed for lower and accurate.

This is what they are in now,

Lots of output, lots of low-end, but not a super accurate woofer.

Our next enclosure will be 1.2 after w/30sq^in tuned @ 40Hz.

But seriously, I'm tired of the L7 already. I've only had it 2-3 weeks. The box is too small and tuned low...but if I'm going to put time and money into a new box, I thought 4 8's would be more fun.
