Eclipse HU question

Well....I just bought car. It come with a eclipse CD8443. I had no experience with eclipse HU at all other than hearing people talking about they make exellent SQ decks. I am thinking about going with the Pioneer P880PRS. Is it worth the money?

Unless you want to run active just keep the eclipse.

I've never owned a Pioneer, but from what I've read and been told they still have issues with noise in the RCA's. I have an Eclipse CD7000 right now and the SQ is far ahead of the Kenwood X990 and Alpine 9835 head units I've owned.

If you want mp3 capability I would sell the 8443 (considering you could get decent money for it) and pick up an Eclipse CD5000 or CD7000. By the way, the CD7000 can run full active crossovers if you need that too.

You can go to Crutchfield and look them up, they list all the features of each one, but the main differences go like this:

CD3000 - 3 band graphic EQ, 5V Preouts, Non-adjustable crossover (LPF is stuck at 80Hz and HPF is stuck at 100Hz), No time alignment

CD5000 - 7 band parametric EQ, 8V Preouts (Only the CD5000 has these), Adjustable LPF and HPF with slope adjustment, Time Alignment, 24-bit D/A converter

CD7000 - 7 band parametric EQ on 2-way mode and 11-band parametric EQ on 3 way mode, 5V preouts, 2 way or 3 way crossover depending on what mode you have selected, Time Alignment, 24-bit D/A converter

So you can easily see that the 5000 or 7000 would be your best bet.

There's also a CD4000, in which the only big addition to the CD3000 is a slightly adjustble LPF/HPF where you can independently select between 80 and 100Hz for each cutoff frequency.

arent the 5000 and 7000 the only ones made by eclipse anymore? I thought i read the others were oem'ed by JVC or something?
