Eclipse HU antenna adapter for 97 DeVille issue

So I ordered an antenna adapter for my '97 DeVille to fit into my eclipse HU. Its an older cd model - their first one that could play .mp3 cds.

It doesn't go into the hu correctly. It actually looks more like just a 6" extension. The female antenna connector on the hu is much larger than the male on the extension. I thought maybe I purchased the wrong one, but it seems that all of them have the same male plug.

I will head to walmart soon and see maybe they have another one, but I am not quite sure what to do about it. If anybody has any suggestions it'd be greatly appreciated. Searched around but couldn't find much =(.
