eclipse head unit removal

Hey, i have a 1996 Mercury cougar that i'm about to get rid of and i'd like to keep my head unit but i have no idea how to remove it.. It's an eclipse cd8445.

Any help would be appreciated.. i'm trading the car in tomorrow so time is money.

if you dont have the head unit tool.

then take 2 butter knifes put them on each side of the radio behind the trim ring evenly dead center from top to bottom/, and up against the actual radios metal body. slide in as far as you can and still grip, it should push out the clamps, pull slowly and youll have your radio. do it carefully try not to gouge the heatsink
