eclipse dvd player

just added a dv3101 dvd player to my system, suddenly after being turned on i inserted a dvd only to see "disk not proper format, please insert another disk" so i tried 3 more and got the same message and even tried an audio cd and got the same message. what could be wrong? every thing was hooked up properly but i just will not play any type of cd or dvd wheather it be store bought or burned. HELP!!!!!!!

I always try a DVD-drive cleaning disk when I see those errors, it fixes the problem 90% of the time.
