I posted this in the headunits section, but I haven't got any help. So hopefully someone here can help. Here's my problem...

I got my Eclipse CD5000 through Woofersetc.com today, and I went to install it and it won't turn on. I'm pretty sure I got all the wires connected correctly, and here's how I have it.

ACC (Red) on deck connected to ACC red on vehicle harness

B+ (Yellow) on deck connected to Yellow on vehicle harness

Solid blue wire on deck connected to solid blue on vehicle harness

Orange/white on deck connected to solid orange on vehicle

Blue/white on deck connected to remote wire for external amp

I have it grounded to the side where the deck sits in

Is that how everyone else hooked up theirs? Does it sound like it's a bad headunit? I have 2 orange wires coming out of my vehicle harness and one is solid orange and the other has a white stripe on it, and on the solid it says "Illumination" and on the orange/white one it just says "positive dimmer"

I even tried taking some wire to the negative terminal on the car battery to the ground spade on the deck and it still won't power on.

Am I doing something wrong here or is the deck shot? (Which I'm praying it isn't because I don't know if Woofersetc will take back decks or switch it for another one.)

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I tried wrapping the black ground wire from the vehicle harness around the spade on the ground wire on the deck and I still didn't have power.

I tried grounding the wire at this one bolt near the mounting cage, and I tried to power it on and nothing. I even tried connecting it to the car battery again and still nothing.

This is really starting to piss me off and depress me at the same time because it's looking like this is a bad deck.

I don't know what else it could be or what I can do. I unhooked all the wires and re-wired it 3 times and no luck. Am I missing something? And a noobie question but what's the little box that comes with it, for? (It tells you to place it far away from the RCA cables or something?)

And in the "Installation manual" it says "TIP: When installing the main unit, some vehicle models may require the use of items that need to be obtained separately such as a power supply adaptor wire, radio antenna adaptor wire or mounting brackets." What is the power supply adaptor wire?

Why don't you just tape every wire back up so no ends are exposed except the hot, ground, and remote and put them straight to the battery under the hood to see if it comes on??

Okay, here's an update. Hopefully this narrows down some things.

I hooked my old deck up, and it didn't power on either ..... weird. I tried hooking both decks up (not at the same time) to the car battery like mentioned, and neither of them turned on. (The old deck was working Monday, before I installed the Eclipse, so I know that the old deck isn't shot.)

So, I then decided to narrow some other things down. I used a "wire light" thing (where you touch wires to see if they're getting power, and a little light bulb lights up inside.) and it lit up on the red wire on the vehicle harness, but didn't light up on the yellow wire. Is it suppose to?

Then I unhooked my aftermarket harness from the vehicle harness, and hooked up the old stock radio and it turned on. So I'm praying that the aftermarket harness doesn't work anymore.

Or I somehow fried BOTH headunits, which I find rare because I've never fried any decks I've ever installed, and I'm 100% sure I installed both correctly.

So, I guess it narrows down to a bad harness (which is weird because it was working Monday) or I somehow had some shitty luck and fried both decks. I don't know any other possibility that it could be. I need to find someone to install both decks in their vehicle to see if they work, and that would solve the whole thing.

Anyone else know what I could look into?

Okay here's an update.

I got it working now. It was my yellow wire on my aftermarket harness not working anymore. I wired the yellow wire on the deck to the fuse box, and it turned on.

Thank God it works. I haven't had much time to play around with it, but all I can say so far is WOW what an upgrade. I read so many people praise the CD500 for the SQ and looks, and now I understand what the talk was about.

Thanks to all who replied with help.
