Weird. Its on display at my store too (Location 3202 Gainesville FL) but I didnt put it up on display so I didn't see the cage or harness. Interesting.

You didn't really think that JVC made their own cd players did you? Even though the externals might be the same (this goes for sub baskets as well), the internals can be radically different.
I hope so. Because I stopped by my CC today and Justin is absolutely correct. The cage, harness, and entire chassis of the CD1000 is a JVC unit. I think what's more interesting (and mind-easing) is that the CD2000/3000 have a completely different setup and look nothing alike.

They seem like a MUCH better build quality to me.

There is a crapload of who makes who in this industy and there has been for years. One company is contracted to make cages, another bezels, another amp heatsinks, another one baskets etc.... so there are also a lot of similarities in the industry as well. JVC might make some parts, a sweatshop with armed guards might make another, it doesn't really matter in the end. It's the guts that really count and that is where one company is 99% of the time far different than the others.
That was the first thing everyone at my store said..."Its just like the jvc."
