Eclipse AVN6600.... Is it worth the wait???

I am in the process of getting my system set-up in my 05 LE, and I was wondering if the differences between the AVN5500 and the AVN6600 are significant enough that it would be worth the wait for the AVN6600 (whose release date keeps being pushed back further and further.)

What do you guys think? I really do not need the dual zone DVD, but is that the only real diferrence?

The 6600 has a few more features that make it worth looking into. It incorporates two dvd drives versus one dvd and one cd. The 6600 has a better dsp allowing 7 bands of PEQ's with crossovers. The 5500 has no crossovers and only Graphic EQ's. The 6600 will have full ipod control, while the 5500 will be limited to sirius control over the ipod.

all eclipse avns play mp3, and dvd... I'm wondering the same question as well .. But the extra features that cant be looked passed are imo ...

1)Circle surround 2 .. ( for movies )

2)mp3 and wma

3)7 band peq

4)24 bit DAC

5)ipod ready

6)TV tuner ready...

All three double dins are 6.5 " screens , the avn 7000 flip up is 7"

Ever consider the Pioneer Avic-Z1?

If you don't want to wait, they you might want to look into this unit.

I considered it, but I don't think the extra 0.5 inches of screen is worth the price difference. Are there other advantages to the Z1 over the AVN6600?

I am going to wait. I talked to Eclipse yeasterday, and the TECH rep told me that if I am doind a whole high-end system, I would DEFINITELY notice a nice diferrence in sound quality.

I guess I am waiting...

one thing you forgot to mention is the price, i work at an eclipse authorized retailer and we are guessing they are going to cost a pretty penny, because the 5495's are over 2000 bux, so you may want to try to find what the price is going to be too
