fried my premier 860 pulling a noob move (connected amped door speaker to deck speaker output). needless to say, it started smoking. now it pops fuses when i try to plug in the harness. how much do y'all think it should cost to repair? where should i try to take it to have it fixed? thanks. and please, save the noob comments, i know this already.

doubt it. i bought it used.

Might not matter.

I bought one on ebay quite a while ago, had the ground trace problem.......got it fixed for free.

The way it was explained to me was it depends on the date the radio was made, so might give them a call and find out.

i thought he was being sarcastic about doing a one time fix for free. when was yours made? if yours is an older one, i might be in luck. the manufacture date on mine is december '04. thanks to all who replied.

Im really not sure- it was a while ago. Give them a call, see what they say.

Who exactly are you talking to at Pioneer and what are you telling them? I called about my ONE of my 860's hair lipping and the broad I spoke to tells me she never heard of the problem.

i called pioneer, they said to take it to one of their repair shops.

i also called a local repair shop i have had good luck with, and he said it's the IC that's toast. he quoted me 100-150 to have it fixed. any idea where to get the part? i have a buddy who's pretty good with stereos who might be able to fix it.

I had to file a better business bureau report...the guy that ended up calling me was a customer service manager named Mark Passmore.

I had the ground trace problem, only thing I paid was for shipping it to electrasound.

Apparently, they determine if they will do it or not based on the manufacture date on the back of the radio.

whats the ground trace problem? i have a 860 and i can fugure out whats wrong with it. one of the preamps puts out a really distored signal and ive tried it on several amps with no luck on improvement, its not even listenable (hey i just made up a word...listenable.....)

is that the same problem?

i bet you its going to cost the price of a new unit + shipping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

definatly toased lol.

btw - somone cant just tell you exactally whats broken with your fried headunit over the phone. there could be more, extensive damage. so that is definatly not concrete info.

actually it turned out to be a fried ic. bought a new one from pioneer for $30, and had a local repair shop solder it on for another $30. works good now. thanks for all the replies. -Josh
