Eclipse AVN5500 or Pioneer AVICD2

I'd say so just because for me navigation was like getting a cell phone way back when... you think you won't use it much then wonder how you got along without it. Also, DVDs of a live concert give you great sound AND picture. Impresses the hell out of your passenger.

BUT, not sure about the AVIC but if you wanna at some point hook up an iPod DON'T get the AVN5500.

The same can be said about the AVIC D2. Horrible Ipod controls.

To the OP, If you have no need for the DVD playback, get the D2. It gives exceptional sound quality and a great navigational interface. The AVN5500 is not all that impressive for $300 more for a feature you probably won't use.

the ipod controls on the 5500 are a big step up from the 5435
Seriously? The little I played with it, I would almost categorize them as unusable. I started a thread on it, but got no real response. Rather than hijack this thread with the details, if you get a chance jman, perhaps you could check out that thread if you get a moment. TY
