Eclipse AVN

First I'll start this off by saying that I did do a forum search, and got some great information about some of these products separately, but I wanted an opinion on something specifically.

My setup is in my sig. I have had the CD7000 now since around April of last year I believe, and I am very happy with it. I even bought the GPS105 adapter for it (dont ask why) but wasn't impressed with that overall. I miss not being able to play DVD's and use navigation controls like I could when I had my N1. I liked the N1 to some extent when I had it, I just didnt feel that it was anywhere near what I was looking for to fine tune audio controls, etc; plus it hit my dash when it came out.

I have been looking at the new units coming out by Eclipse. The CD7100 looks very nice, and I would use the USB playback and the 8V pre-outs would compliment my XA4000 rather well. However, missing those features above, I have also been looking at the AVN6610. I wouldn't say I am an audiophile by any means, but I dont want to feel like I made a drastic mistake, either. Everyone at work tells me to get the AVN5495 and I tell them they are stupid because all I read is about how its a terrible choice for SQ and audio controls.

So, after my long rant, what do you guys think? If I go to the AVN6610, instead of the CD7100, do you think I'll be making a mistake? I can overlook the USB, simply because I'll burn libraries onto DVD's. I wont miss the HDD from the 5495, since the 6610 has Dual DVD's and I can leave the nav disc it all the time. Will I notice a significant difference going from the CD7000 to the 6610, and likewise, will I notice that big of a difference getting the CD7100 and getting 8V pre-outs?

Overall SQ wise you would be making a lateral move, but getting back the features that you miss and want. Nothing wrong with that.. Processing wise..you would certainly miss out on a bit, if needed, although that would easily be solved with the AVN7000.

Ive used the AVN7000 a few times here at work, but have never used the AVN6600. From my understanding, the AVN7000 will give me:

Time Alignment

Expansion with DCU105

I am not too familiar with the Ultima Engine. It states on the site that "This computing engine combines navigation and graphics processing integrated chips in one monolithic configuration for accelerated data processing." Sounds useful, but not being familiar with it, Im not sure *how* useful. According to their site now, the 6610 has been upgraded quite a bit compared to the 6600 and has some great features with it now. It also showed that the AVN6610 would have CSII where the 7000 would not. I also wasnt too fond of adding the DCU105 to get the 5V pre-outs. I am by no means against the AVN7000, but Im trying to justify the extra price plus going against a 2-din, because as stated above the "pop-out" screens hit my dash.

I have seen that you always seem to have a great idea what you are talking about 6spd and I've learned to value your opinion as well, so.. correct me if I am wrong on a lot of what I've stated above. Again, appreciate any and all help.

I actually just had the AVN6600 installed. I wish I had waited on the 6610. More options, bigger screen, bluetooth and more. IMO the AVN6610 all the way.

You would think by now Eclipse would get a clue and build the DD's with some real tuning options....

just to clarify...my avn6600 did not do MP3 DVD's......only mp3 CD's. My kenwood double did mp3 DVD's however...

I'll check on the avn6610 when I finish installing it this weekend.
