Eclipse Amp shuts off

1 ohm coils, ran in parellel should be .5
The 7122 isn't stable down to .5ohm. That is probably the reason why it doesn't sound good.....because you are beyond the limitations of the amp. Wire the coils in series for a 2ohm load and see how that changes the situation.

BTW, I got that info from the Eclipse .pdf for their power amplifiers.....in the 1ohm row it says "Not Supported".....and if it doesn't support (meaning it can't handle) a 1ohm load, then it surely can't support (handle) a .5ohm load.

Well , i hooked it up in series (2 ohms) and it just wasn't as loud so I hooked it up in parellel again . I did set my box at a steeper angle and it sounds a lot better , I'm thinking on making a new box as this Idea didn't seem to work that great

Hey can you run two seperate amps to one speaker , I just bought a jl audio 1000/1 and was thinking on hooking them both up to the one speaker, would you hook them up to each voice coil seperatly or wire them together?

Ok man lets talk for a min. Your sub can handle 750rms but you are wanting to put 1000watts to it? Why do you want to waste your money?Your sub hates you right now.lol That jl amp is 1000rms at 2-4ohms, and the eclipse is 500rms@4ohms and 1000@2ohms. It doesnt get to 1ohm much less .5!!!!! Your amp also hates you right now.lol

Build a new box, Ported for more spl, that is what you want right? Then sell both those amps and get an amp that will run around 700-800rms@2ohms.

I kinda agree with what he^^^^ said. I think your Eclipse amp will work fine (if you "gain" it down a little) after you rewire it to a 2ohm load......but build a ported box for your sub. It sounds like your sub issue is related to the box and not to the amp.

Well I just figured since my speaker can handle 3000w continuous(don't know what that converts to in rms) and my eclipse is 1000w at 2ohms and the JL is 1000w at 2ohms that I could set the gain down a little and reallly see what kind of noise I can make , I want SPL but I don't really want to sacrafise sq to get , I want it all you know??

And I agree the box isn't perfect but I will be building/buying a new one later

Yea, that's an Eclipse Titanium PRO, 3000wrms, very nice..

Do not run that amp to a .5 ohm load, as others have said, it won't last long. That sub is severly underpowered, it's power hungry, and I've never heard anything about hooking up 2 different brand amps to one sub, I don't know if that would be OK or not.

Also, I own an Eclipse Titanium 12, and it really shines when ported, I have a feeling the Pro would be the same. I think that sub with some more power, ported, would be rediculously loud.
