Eclipse Aluminum 12" or JL 15w6?

Ive got an Eclipse Aluminum 12" 88120

This guy has a JL AUdIO 15w6.

Which would you chose??

He wants to trade...

How tight is the bass on the 15w6?

The eclipse has very tight bass but doesnt produce low low freqs very loudly..

Let me know your opinions, thoughts etc..?

TO BE HONEST THE 15W6 WILL HIT THOSE LOW notes real well.......my friend had 2 of them in a mazda mpv..and the metal look like water once he hit 28hz....so imo go with the 15's if u know that the eclipse didnt.....even tho i find that strange...the r decent speakers...was it in a recommended box?

I think the box is a little bit small. Its 1.25 cuft before displacement.

However, i have had a hard time finding box specs for the eclipse 88120

I called eclipse 3 times and got different answers...

but 2 out of the 3 said 1.5 cuf sealed net

So, i'm thinking about building a 1.65cuf sealed box. That and my amp is putting out 600W @2 ohms.

The 15w6 would be wired at 3 Ohms, so i would only be giving it more like 500W not that that would make too much of a difference..

well 500w is actually 100watts more than what jl recommended 4 that sub....but i'd say try the 15..u will be pleased

Maybe try porting the Eclipse? My Ti absolutely kills the lows, I'm not sure where people got the notuion that they **** at lows form...

I had 4 Eclipse 88120's in a sealed box, and they hit the lows fine. Sounds like improper box size if it isn't hitting the "lows".

I love my 88120 it sounds amazing in a 1 cube box. Good low end extension and amazing sound quality.

Thanks for all of the advice all-- I aquire a 1.65cuf box and try it out.

I've got a subzone box that is 1.65cuf but its hole opening is only 10.5" I'm trying to sell it, but maybe I should just grind the hole 1.4" around and drop the eclipse into it.
