Eclipse is dead and over!!! Get over it... It's sad when the Company engineers agree with the quality of Eclipse today. Go with Kenwood Excelon and be done.

Gee - strange that FoxPro chose to completely ignore my question though I know he (I think it's a he?) was still viewing the thread when I posted it...

Having made the assertion that "I have used an eXcelon..." (which could have been back in '97 for all we know) doesn't have much bearing on a discussion regarding Kenwood's current top-end deck I wouldn't imagine.

Wrong !! Eclipse is NOT dead and over. They make some of the best sounding head units on the market. While Kenwood has made a much better head unit as of late doesn't by any means make them better than Eclipse. You love your Kenwood and thats good for you. But you shouldn't make such claims when your only basis for your claim is your personal preference.

I'd take either deck. I just bought the Kenwood X889 and will say with out a doubt its the nicest deck I have ever used. I have friends with Alpines and pioneers and I'd take this X889 over any of them. Don't listen to those that say Kenwood isn't the real deal. they are. but Eclipse make a fine deck as well.

sq , tons of options, features quality finish and a great clearance price to boot. You just can't go wrong with Kenwood.

I wouldn't buy their speakers but their hu's are fantastic. Atleast the excelon decks anyway.
