Eclipse 7100 vs. Premier 880PRS vs. Alpine CDA9815

I need some help with the purchase of my new head unit. I used to own the Premier 860 a fews years back and i purchased the Eclipse 5000 last year. I fell in love with my Eclipse because of the sound quality and the crossovers were more accurate that the 860. However, the functionality of my 860 was most definitely a lot better than the 5000. The main reason why i wanted to go with the 5000 was because of the 8V pre-out, as opposed to the 6.5 from my 860.

Well, I usually go through one head unit per year, and it's about that time again. I am using my previous experiences with my head units to determine what head unit I should go with next.

It's mainly between the new 880PRS, or the 7100.

I love the fact that I can fine tune everything with the 880PRS. I love the fact that i can set the frequency and gain for each individual channel, unlike the 7100. However, the 7100 has the Dolby CS, which will automatically bring the sound stage to the front speakers, and use the rear speakers only for rear-fill. The 880 doesn't have that. I also like how the 7100 has an 8V pre-out @ 55 ohms, as opposed to the 5V, 100 ohms. And lets not forget to mention that Pioneer has great functionality throughout their line of head units. Guys, I need help.

Price is not an issue

sounds like you like the pioneer better and its cheaper, I am not an audio genius but 5v pre outs are still pretty nice, make sure your amp is not under powered, I wish they made this Clarion with USB

how do u like that one? I was considering the P9 (much later down the road), but you just gave me something else to look at.

IF price is no issue get a DRZ9255 best audiophile deck out there IMO. I have one. Absolutely stunning is all I can say. Only problem is no MP3 playback. IF money is no object add a 625 changer I did. There is a 9255 for sale on DIYMA.

From what you have listed I always wanted to try out the CD7100. I had the 880 great deck sold it to get 9255 no comparison between the two 9255 hands down.

9255 can be had for about 550-675.00 if you look around.

Might also consider finding a 8455, 8445 or ALpine 9835.

The Eclipse has a lot of DSP power in it for more advanced crossovers and parametric EQ.

I believe it also has much the same capability built in to it that the new Alpine deck has (after you buy the additional new DSP unit for another $400) for auto-adjusting the soundstage with delay for any seat in the vehicle by using a mic.

I have the 7100 its a nice deck, the USB is good and clear, time alignment, crossovers for front, rear, and sub up to 24db slope, 7 band parametric eq, nice deck, plus it has pretty lights lol, but if not for the USB I would have got the clarion as well
