eBay woes

I've bought and sold stuff on eBay for over a decade now. Recently I have purchased several amps along with some other electronics trying to save a buck or just because I can't find them anywhere else (older equipment). Out of my last 5 transactions for items over $50 I've had to return 4 of them. The most recent purchase is an amp I paid a couple hundred for was shipped without packaging material; loose in a box!!! They were thoughtful enough to include the invoice though.

This weirdly has been a huge issue. I've received lots of items packaged poorly or without packaging at all. It seems to have flared up in the past several years, but especially has been bad this year. I bust my *** to pack stuff I sell because I know that if the buyer isn't happy they will 99% of the time get their refund. Do people not understand that the USPS shipping process is not a leisurely gondola ride to their destination? I am giving up on buying electronics through private sellers on ebay.

paypal is going to be difficult to replace, especially for buyers.

I've always had excellent luck on ebay. But then again.....I mostly buy small/less expensive items. Wouldn't trust any used electronics.

Shipping prices have gone up way too much over the last two years, its insane.

I sold an amp that was 20"+ in length, and the cheapest regular shipping (and insurance) my local UPS/Fed Ex shipper could find was over $50.

They now charge by the size of the box, so a lot of sleazy cheap sellers are probably using as small of a box they can, and skimping on the padding to do it.

Just sent two 15" 65lb subs from Springfield, Illinois to Rhode Island "Overnight" via UPS.

Subs arrived perfectly fine in 16 hours. Cost $81 for the pair

I don't think that's a bad price..

Hey bro grown ups have credit cards.

I have both a credit card and debit card. Credit card is hooked to paypal.

How would I go about getting payment from someone I sold a sub to, if I don't use a 3rd party?

If you can provide some useful information, that would actually be pretty cool
