Eating less makes me gain weight

I noticed lately that I eat a lot during the day and was spending a lot of money on food so I decided to try and eat only Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Soon I was only hungry during those times of the day but now my weight is going up. Is my metabolism slowing down because less food or something?

your body notices the change and will start to store fat to compensate for the lower intake. you should eat less (healthy food) more often (6x's a day).

Eat 4-6 small meals a day and exercise regularly, and you will notice it going back down. Now if those 4-6 small meals consist of Jack in the Box tacos and chocolate milk, I can't help you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That does happen, when you start to eat less, your body thinks that there is a shortage of food and starts to build up fat storage to be used as energy when there is no food.

It also depends on what you eat those three meals, you have to watch your caloric intake and exercise. Lets say you consume 3500 kcals a day and you get no exercise, depending on what your body's calorie need for maintenance is, you most likely end up with a caloric surplus. 3500 kcals = 1 pound of body fat.

6' 1" and 174 pounds. I'm not fat just chubby so gotta lose like 10 lbs. and gain some more muscle.
Alright, if you want to lose a couple of pounds and maintain/build muscle, i suggest a 50/20/30 ratio for Protein/Carb/Fat intake. Your daily calorie intake goal would be no more than 2270 cals.

Heres how the ratios work:

50% calories from Protein is 1135 calories, or 284G(Grams)

20% calories from Carbs is 454 calories, or 113G

30% calories from Fat is 681 calories, or 75G

You should consume 284 Grams of protein, 113 Grams of carbs, and 75 Grams of fat, this will add up to 2270 calories. Be sure most of your fat comes from EFA's (flax, fish oil,. PB or lean beef).

Eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day for a total of 6 "meals".

Also, if you already don't workout, you should start a program that consists of 20-30 mins cardio 3x a week and weights 4-5x a week.

Any questions let me know.

Thanks! Much appreciated. I printed that out and put it in my wallet for reference and will let you know how things go //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No prob, man. This will work for you, Ive lost 40lbs, upped my lean body mass and have gotten way stronger on all my lifts on this program.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I would suggest buying some protein powder, its super hard trying get all that protein from food. Good protein sources: Egg whites, lean cuts of beef, skinless chicken breast, fish, Bison.

Good Luck.
