Eating fuses...

The reason you're blowing fuses is ,somewhere you have a short. Current wants to flow through the path of least resistance which in case current flow goes up hence a blown fuse. Check all wires for loose strands that may reach out and touch a ground point or grounds that may touch power.

is the amp running at 4ohms,2 ohms,1ohm?

you said it was 800@ 4ohms if you are running it at 4ohm and 80 amp fuse will be fine. the 4ga will work as long wire is about 10-13 feet long.

if you are running the amp at 2 or 1 ohm its going to draw alot more then 80 amps and you will also need to set up the power and ground cables to 1/0

I see several things wrong:

1. That amp is a Class AB 2-channel amp. Class AB amps aren't very efficient. To be conservative, let's say it's 50% efficient. Some are 60%, but we don't know what this one is. So with 50% efficiency, if the amp is putting out 800w to the speakers, it's drawing 1600w from the power wire. 1600 watts at 13.8 volts is 116 amps.

2. 116 amps is obviously a lot higher than the current fuse you have in there. You need a fuse of about 120 amps. But this brings me to #3:

3. 8 gauge wire cannot carry 120 amps. You need at least 4 gauge. You should run 1/0 gauge, so that you can run an amp for your speakers, too, in addition to your sub. Make sure you use the same size for your ground as you do for your power wire.

4. You say you wired your sub to 1 ohm. That amp, when bridged, is rated for 4 ohms. Not 2 ohms. Certainly not 1 ohm. Rewire for 4 ohms.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your help but I think I found out why my fuse kept blowing. I rewired my sub to 4ohm and it seems to be doing just fine. I will probably switch out to a 120 amp ANL fuse just because ANL fuse would be more reliable and my wiring will allow it.

I dont know why some of you guys use such small fuses.....I wont use anything smaller than 100-150A on anything needing a 4GA wire.....

Shit my system now has a 300A off the bat and 2 150s off the block.....
