Eating fuses...

Whenever I'm blasting my sub my fuse will blow in less than a minute.

I'm running 80amp AGU fuse with 4 gauge wires and a PPI 2200 amp. What could cause this? Is there anyway I can fix this problem? I'm not sure but I think my ground wire is a 8 gauge.

Oh and I'm looking to have someone build a custom box for me that involves bending plexi glass.

how many watts u got runnin through the 4g power wire? and where is the fuse located? u mean amp fuse?

eating fuses could be bad for your health //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

the fuse is located nxt to the battery. I'm pushing a PPI pcx 2200 which is 800watts RMS bridged at 4ohms. 4 gauge should be able to handle that much power but would an 8 gauge?

i had this same problem weeks ago, 4gauge wires, distribution block w/ agu fuses. 60 amp agu.. blew... went to 80 amp agu... blew, went through about 6 fuses in 3 days..

they also only blew when i turned the volume up to about 75%. Gave up on the agu fuses, bought a anl fuse distribution block, same size [80amp] fuse, havn't blown a single fuse since.

agu fuses = shit

upgrade to anl or maxi imo

edit: agu fuses only goes up to 80amp max. so going up would mean upgrading to a different type of fuse , anl can take alot more heat too since theres no glass 8)

ohh its an inline fuse,

but none the less, if the fuse is blowing its more than likely because of a current draw in excess of its rating,

What does the PPI amp recommend to be fused at?,

A clam on meter would tell you what is the current draw

What if I'm actually using 8gauge wires.....????
so you lied at the beginning...??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

run 4ga with about 120a anl and you should be golden (battery and ground)

why did you say you were running 4ga when you are running 8?

you worried about being flamed?

Dont use bigger wire if yo u dont need it(even tho it doesnt really matter), dont use smaller wire if u need bigger wire, and dont use one ga wire for power run and a smaller run for ground...

i dont know the numbers on this,

but oga handles the most

4ga is next

8ga

ect.

if ur running as much or close to as much as 4ga can run max, that is way to much for 8ga....so if your power run is 4ga, and ur ground is 8ga, your gonna fry your ground wire...

(correct me if im wrong)

make all runs the same size - 4ga minimum.

i would suggest finding the sticky that sais how big of a load each cable size can handle and use the applicable wire. make sure any size of wiring you use is capable of handling what your throwing at it.
