Today I made two small buss bars for my car. One for power and one for grounds.

For those of you who don't know, a buss bar is simply a piece of conductive material that is basically made into a custom distribution block using nuts and bolts.

Some people make really huge ones with enough room to hook 98234 amps to without stacking a single ring terminal, they machine threads for screws, and spend entirely too much on them. I however just made a very simple, cheap, small buss bar for my moderately powered system. These will make switching wires a breeze for future changes. I highly encourage anybody who switches equipment out relatively often to give something like this a try.

now onto the pics

(The 5 washers are there to keep the screw from going all the way through the wood, I had them on hand and didn't want to buy new screws just for this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )

Yeah I already thought of the bolts hitting the chassis, especially since these are going to be hidden underneath my backseat. Aside from the fact that having a few washers and a couple ring terminals will make the bolt not go as far down, I am also going to completely surround it, including underneath it, with DAmplifier since I'm going to be deadening that part of the car anyway. I shouldn't have a problem with shorting.

Yep. I called a few places looking for copper, only one place I found had it, and it was really expensive. I finally ended up going to a metal shop that regal8r suggested and they had a scrap piece of aluminum that they cut and gave me for free. I just had to sand it and drill the holes. I'm really not worried about the conductivity, with easily as much metal as 1/0 wire or bigger, I'm sure it will be fine.

Got one for sale, mil spec 6 ports I beileve, extra from my truck, looks the same as his but has fiber glass covers and thumbscrews, was used for the millitary radio and antenna masts on my truck (which I no longer use). If anyone is interested I can post some pics

post them up, the purpose of this thread was to get people to try and make something similar. I just wanted to show how cheaply and easily you can make your own. More examples is always a good thing.
