Thats taken from the mcmaster carr page, listing diff types of vibration dampeners and their prices. They also have many more typs on the same page of their online catalogue. They pretty much have all the popular types of dampeners, for a fraction of the price. BTW, the viscoelastic asphalt is the same stuff as dynamat (exactly, Ive used both side by side to test). They also have a liquid based so its brushable or sprayable (can anyone say noisekiller for a fraction of the cost?).

dynamat original is SBS

dynamat extreme is butyl rubber, no asphalt...

foil alone wont work, You have to add weight. the more weigh you add the better the results.

Go to your local Lowes or other building center and get a roll of Grace Ice Shield. $58 here. You can do your whole car with a roll of that stuff. 3' x 33'!

you can also spen about $2500 replaceing your uphostery after it melts all over your car
lol, nice.

I always look forward to having tar all over my interior.

I call that bluff.

Over the past 14 years I have installed and removed enough Ice Gaurd from roof's and other area's industrially and never once have I seen it melt or even come remotely close to melting.

Keep in mind that Ice Gaurd is typically used along the edges and in the valley's of roofs, which on a typical summer day are exposed to heat in excess of 150 degrees F. Due to heat absorption and reflection, a roof is nearly twice as hot than the stated air temp.

Ice Gaurd has no problems with heat, or melting. None that would be and issue in a vehicle anyway.

Used it to deaden a good number of vehicles with zero problems.

Less expensive than most deadeners on the market, and effective. Two key points that count.

Be sure to get the non-granulated material however; no point in fighting the sand that the granulated material (used for traction and grip) when it is not needed, and the regular Ice Gaurd is available.

humm, Florida heat to Chicago winters....never once had ice shield melt or come off. If you are worried about heat, add some heat reflective foil to the top of it. You can get it a Ace hardware for $28! I did my latest car like that. Completely gutted the interior, including dash, adde 2 layers of ice shield and one layer of foil. Now, I did all this not for a stereo system, but because I like a quite ride.

Maybe it is because I live in Arizona where it commonly gets hotter than anywhere in the country, (with a small exception of lake havisu)

I have seen just about every type of roofing material ,elt off the trunk lids and rear deck of cars out here.

peopl use it to save money and then it ends up all over thier amps and subs, or worse, dripping out of the seems of the head liner. thats one thing you dont want to have happen.

internal temperature of an AZ car can hit over 250. IF you have good luck with that product use the hell out of it!

I however dont reccomend anything that is not designed to be used in a car.
