Dynamat xtreme question

The testing I've seen shows that mats and liquids are most effective over slightly different frequency ranges. This makes sense when you consider that the liquids are quite a bit less flexible when cured. This suggests, and my own experience supports the idea that, applying liquid on top of mat is more effective than either mat or liquid alone. For example, 1mm of mat covered by 1mm of liquid seems to work better than 2mm of either.
Thanx for the reply Rudy. I have a door kit of the original dynamat that I was going to use for my rear doors. My front doors being done in xtreme of course. But after reading the entire showdown article I was thinking of using the dynamat original on the floor since it is a horizontal surface and use the liquid over the top of that. That way the dynamat is NOT on a vertical surface. I figure up close to firewall on both sides of the front floor boards. Any thoughts if this would be pretty effective or not??

The Original is never going to be anywhere near as effective as a foil faced product. I wouldn't use it myself, but I know it's tough to throw stuff away. The only thing I can figure out is that Dynamat must have manufactured tons and tons of that stuff. They have continued selling it for much longer than makes any kind of sense. I also wouldn't cover the Original with liquid. I guess it would help with road noise where you are describing putting it. It is more durable and stable than Peel & Seal or FatMat, but it's still inclined to smell. The problem with that asphalt smell is that it's toxic.
