CD/DVD unit. Flipout screens, navi's, whatever... they should play songs off of dvd-r's

yep. giga mp3. it's one of the reasons i bought the jvc avx-1. any dvd player will read dvd mp3's. it all depends on how you format your burn. roxio burns them and they even play on playstation 2, which is limited as a dvd player. it won't read them if i burn them with nero, but my jvc will read both formats.

if its newer and reads dvd it will do mp3 dvd

my avh-5700dvd doesn't read MP3 DVDs, anyone know if it's supposed to?

it will. you may have to create it with roxio though. nero burns a true dvd mp3, which not all can read. roxio, however, burns them in more of an actual dvd movie file, rather than an actual dvd mp3 format. any player that reads dvd-r can play mp3's on dvd.

I have a JVC unit...its not the best but it will read MP3's...is there any way of knowing if it will read a dvd-r or would I have to just try it out...if not, whats a price effective model that will do what Im looking for?

it only needs to read dvd's. screen makes no difference. it will be a pain in the @ss to navigate 1000 songs with no screen though.

Im sure that that JVC wont do that...But that being so does anyone have a suggestion on a unit that wont cost me my soul but will run the dvd-r disks? And I can handle the navigation w/o a screen, Im anal about my music its all in folders by artist and album lol

no. it won't read giga-mp3. just make normal mp3 discs or get a new unit.
