DVC Sub with 2 Channel Amp

I have a hifonics 2 channel amp. I have two audiobahn subs running off the amp for about 2 1/2 years. All of a sudden the amp is cutting out and people are advising me that i dont have enough power from the amp. How would i run just one sub to the amp if the amp puts out 1x1000watts at 4ohms bridged? 2x500 at 2ohm and 2x250 at 4ohms? i'm a little lost so a little advice would be great.. thanks.

What Audiobahn subs are we talking about, specifically? The VC configuration will decide how you need to run them off of any amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

or what you can do is run each VC per channel and just watch the gains....you cant give that sub 1kw even at 700w Rms it might be a little overrated

You'll have to wire it to 2 ohm and run it off of one channel then.
Yup. And if that's the case you should be able to run both subs off of the amp you have without issue, I would think. Which model HiFonics amp are we talking about here?

I have no personal experience with any of HiFonics gear but outside of potential thermal problems if the mounting location doesn't have adequate airflow to provide for amp cooling I cannot see a problem running it at 2 Ohms daily...

And if the ratings you gave us in the opening post are accurate, 500w X 2 @ 2 Ohm stereo, that should be adequate to run both subs at the same time with worthwhile results.
