DVA-9861 VS. 9887 help!

I want to get two monitors for the rear of the car, I have the 701 DSP and can not use the inprint with this on the 9887. The 9861 has 24 bit DAC as with the 9887, but has the optical out that the 9887 does not have. I like the biolite on the 9887, but willing to trade off for furture expansion with the DVD palyer. is sound that much better with the optical? I have heard mixed reviews, from major differnce to not really, whats up?

imo its all about sound floor when going to optical.

im willing to bet if you play digital silence and turn your current headunit all the way up to max, you will hear some hissing ect. with optical, any induced noise via the return path through the headunit or otherwise through the RCA is gone because the optical conductor is not an electrical conductor, therefore no voltage from the powersupply or otherwise EMI can be induced into your input signal.

Its funny, but with my JL amps I basically have non noise floor at all! I do not like the display on the 9861 compared to the 9887 so I am wondering if it is even worth the trouble of changing at this point, although I really want a rear seat montor for my daughter!

I need confirmation that optical is beter then the Ai-net!
