I got my dls speakers on Friday and got them installed today. Thanks to tplaya07. They sound good, I like them. I had a local shop install all of my stuff. Here is my setup Alpine 9833, dls ur6s components, dls 226 coaxials, 2 kicker L7, kicker 1200.1 and kicker 300.4, Alpine fli down monitor movies 2 go dvd player and farenheit visor monitor. I dropped it off to them and told them to pull the 4 ga and run 0 to a block then 4 to the amps. They said it would be better to run 0 to the 1200.1 and 4 to the 300.4. I was like okay whatever. The amp rack is in my cargo area so they couldnt put my end caps on. Ill post pictures tommorow. The problem is I now have engine noise. It starts a little at idle but then goes up until about 2000 rpm then it almost seems non existant. This is the family truck so I need to get this fixed I cant have engine noise in it. The shop said to bring it by tommorwo and they will put in a ground loop isolator. Other than grounds what could it be? How could I tell if this is an amp problem? I had the same problem in my car with this amp, but i figured it was an install problem. Someone please help me Thanks

I went to the shop today and they said they think the sound is being emitted from the crossover. Did they hook up the crossover right? What about the noise it does seem to be coming from just the tweeter but it is very annoying. I like how they installed my monitors so I though I would cntinue using them for this truck. I will now do my own work and risk doing stuff wrong that way I know what happened.

tell them to turn off the sub, amp (remove fuse in 0guage wire) and listen.

do the same with the component amp.

still make noise? what amp made the noise?

tell them to sho you the ground for the amp that is making noise, if it is quality - then proceed to other issues. try and get them to ground the 300.4 to the same spot as the 1200.1 and see if that solves it. usually ground problems are what cause noise. also, try playing the amp with noise regularly, turn the car off, remove the RCA wires, then turn the amp back on. still got noise? if YES, then its definatly the amp OR ground (maybe both //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif ). if not, its got somthing to do with introduced noise between the headunit and the amp (RCA wires, any processors, or anything - even that DVD player could be causing it)

upgrade the battery ground (add a 0guage wire to the chassis as short as possible, add a ground from the engine block to the chassis as short as possible, and add a wire from the alternator + terminal to the battery + terminal) ths is called the Big Three. see if that helps.

try moving the RCA wires around\away from power wires\stock wires (shouldnt effect anything, but in rare cases, it supposedly does)

make sure EVERYTHING (including the head unit, and the DVD player) have EXELENT grounds, if nothing above works, try moving the grounds to a different location.

battery isolaters do not always work - and should be a last resort.

I briefly used a ground loop isolator, many people told me it would affect the sound. Plus, if I paid a shop to do an install, I wouldnt let them take the easy way out- Id make them find the source of the problem, and correct it.

okay I chased down there ground for my 300.4 it is in the sheet metal. Is that a good place or should it be somewhere else? The noise is also coming from my mids and coaxial. When removing a ground should I disconnect the battery? Hopefully the shop will make good on their install. But I am also looking for my own solutions. I was a little worried about the tweeter install so I had them do it. Next time ill take my chances and do everything myself. Live and learn

I went to the shop and the install mager looked at my truck. He checked the grounds and said they are fine. Then he checked the aftermarket fan and unplugged it. That is the problem. So Im going to have them reground the fan then maybe pull it out. Do you think the extra grounds in the big 3 could help
