Been out of the Car Audio scene for a minute - and just wanted some input...
To begin let me let you know what I have, and plan to do...
I just picked-up a 1993 Toyota Standard-Cab Pick-Up. SInce the factory speakers (2 small in-dash units) don't seem to be enough, I was going to add some old gear that I had sitting in the basement.
- What I currently have is a SoundStream 405 (50x4 + 100x1), a SoundStream 5.0 (25x2), a Coustic XM-3e Crossover and some Orion speakers (2 - XTR 6" woofers, 2 XTR 4" woofers and 2 - XTR 1.5" tweeters)
- I was going to mount the 6's and tweets in the doors (possibly in Q-Form pods), and mount the 4's in the kickpanels (also a possibility of using Q-Forms for that too).
I have some old Kicker C-10's (old school - before they changed the voice coil), but they are pretty much dead - So I need something to provide my low-end. I wanted to go with a single 10" or 12" sub - and was thinking about a dual voice coil unit.
Am I correct in assuming that if the dual voice coils are wired in parallel - then that will show a 2 Ohm load? Provided the Voice Coils are each rated at 4 Ohms...Also, does this configuration impact sound quality at all?
One last thing - I know that asking for advice on speaker selection is pointless, but I will ask anyway... What is a good DVC sub (10" or 12") that will fit behind the cab of a small-ass pick-up?
Thanks for any help...
peace.
