Is it possible to say have a dual voice coil sub and get a quad coil drop in recone?

Yeah as long as the new coil fits in the gap properly

You'll have to have quad tinsel leads as well and a possibly a basket that can accommodate four sets of push terminals (if you go direct leads this wont matter).

PSI offers some spiders with quad tinsels. * i think *

EMF Audio did this with their Emeragerd subs back in the day.
