Dual Mids?

Is there a way to successfully install 4 midbass drivers (2 each door) for the front stage? Or would it be much better to use a single larger driver for each door?

I am aware of some of the pitfalls with multiple drivers playing the same frequencies, etc. Are there ways to overcome this? How would you accomplish it?

I am looking to increase midbass output and it would be easier to install smaller drivers in the doors over 8" or 10" mids.

Thanks for the help.

As far as 2 drivers vs. 1 larger, it's gonna depend on what kind of sound you want in your front stage. One larger speaker's gonna give you a better blending with your sub, cause you're gonna hit lower notes. Two same size speakers are going to give you more output.

sq - one larger speaker

spl - two smaller speakers

SQL - two larger speakers!!!!

Check and see what fits in your car, first. I bit off a bit more than i can chew at the moment, when i decided to try and squeeze 6.75" speakers in my 5.25" stock locations, turns out those pesky germans put a solid steel reinforcement frame +/- 2" deep in my door, and now i'm gonna have to get crazy with some FAAAAT spacers. 2 5.25" drivers would've been much more easily installed.

Also, if you're running dual mids, you're gonna wanna keep them 9" apart to keep cancellation to a minimum, and also if you're running them above 50hz (which i would imagine you are) you're gonna lose some soundstaging, so def. single drivers for sq apps.

You need more than one set of XXX mids? hmmmm I had to cut back on my midbass.... It was overpowering the midrange.
How do you have them installed? IB, sealed? What kind of damping have you done?

I have them in the doors mounted on 2 - 3/4" MDF rings (IB). With some sound deadener on the inner panel of the door. Doors are sealed up pretty good

from factory, there are no holes on the inner panel('05 Altima).

Amp specs are 137wrms @ 2ohms @ 14.4V. Maybe need more power? The output is OK. It just does not seem to blend in well with the sub. Bass guitar sounds are pretty good, I listen to quite a bit of heavy metal and rock. It is the double bass and/or kick drums that are lacking.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Wow.

I have my XXX6.5's in feberglass sealed door pods I made, they're prolly around .2 cubes or so, I have around 200rms per side on the mids alone...and they sound amazing. I can drop them down to 40hz easy...and turn my sub off...and they shake my rear view.

I've only got them up to around 1.2kHz tho, so that takes A LOT of stresss off of them.

I recommend sealing them off...completely. And throwing some power at them, they'll sound great.

I have 2 sets of xxx mids, been debating wether I should use both of em or not though...For one it will be a PITA to install versus just one pair, and my substage is "only" gonna be 2 12" mags...Also if I just use one pair I can get away with a smaller amp. I know one guy on here had installed 2 sets of xxx mids in his doors, had install pics and everything. Dont remmeber what he said about em though...

a speaker more suited to that type of install would work better. i would use a set of idq 6's or 8's, avi or even some memphis 6.5's. thay dont take the power a xxx does but they excell in that type of install when set up correctly
