Dual Kicker 8's

I've just finished my install in my 02 Explorer Sport Trac. For background I've installed

Head Unit - Alpine CDA-9855

Door Speakers - Alpine SPR-57LS (5x7 type R's) in all four doors with doors completely dynomated

Door Speaker Amp - Alpine MRP-F240

Sub Amp - Alpine MRP-M350

Subs - Kicker Comp C8 (4Ohm)

All of my previous install I gave up storage space for larger subs, and I've never actually heard a system setup with 8's.

They don't seem to hit as hard as my single 10" Polk from a few years ago. It seems like it should be at least as loud as the single 10. The box is a single chamber with approx 1ft^3 and each sub needs .5 so it should be ok. Any ideas?

Gains are set according to all the tutorials I could find. At least as well as possible without a DMM. The gain on the sub amp is higher than on the door speaker amp to to help fill in since the output seems low.

Any other thoughts?

yea its funny.... i ran 2 idq 10"s off a 4 channel the subs moved like a mofo, but it sounded like crap. 2 subs getting 2 diff signals = no good at all. crapload of cancelation.

personally i think you just have too small of a sub for that big of an area.
Id agree. Polk dx's are the shit- that prolly waht you had. In the right enclosure they pound hard. I had one but crushed it with 800watts RMS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

2 8" CVR's ported- then fiberglass the Comps into your doors for some sloppy midbass. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

2 8's should be fine, I was running 2 solobaric 8's (round ones-old school) and they hammered on 200wrms for the pair in a very small sealed box (about .5cuft each. Filled up my Si which def. has more cabin room that his truck. I'll sell you my solos if you want.

Everything is wired wire as far I know. I did all the work but I'm by no means a pro. I've got it wired in parallel so the amp should have a 2ohm load. And since it's a mono amp their shouldn't be any cancellation.

It's stuff with polyfil close to a pound.

I don't have the room to really do anything else. Thats why I went with the setup I have. I couldn't mount any subs deeper than 4" without fiberglassing the enclosure right into the trac. The whole thing with this install is it completely removable and can be returned to stock with only a few screws and bolts.

So I'm going to check the voltage and make sure it's right.

I got the comp's for a really good price so I couldn't pass them up on top of most other 8's have a deeper mounting depth than what I was working with.

Don't get me wrong is sounds good, but just doesn't have the volume I feel it should.

Edit: Just checked with my multimeter at the battery and amps I'm getting 14.2~ Volts. with the truck running so thats not the problem
