Dual Illuminate

For quite a while I had two old kenwood ksc-9901 3 way speaker system in my trunk. Not top of line stuff but i loved them beyond belief. Well with the summer heat here the time got the best of them and they went out. I went on sub rage and bought the first thing I could grab off the shelf with the money I had on me... 2 dual illuminate 12" that come with an amp. My thoughts were how bad can they be? I dont need exessive sound levels but I like it loud. First issue with them was that they require a huge box 1.5 sq. ft per sub vented. That is huge for a firebird trunk. After doing some reading I decided to go for a sealed box actually since it would deliver more of a kick. I lissen to house/trance so a quick accurate kick is what I need. Today I got them in and I dont know what to think. They are really loud but they really dont have a kick. I just get this constant and prolonged bass from them. So am I stupid? Are subs really suposed to sound like that? I did not hear too many subs but they did not sound like that. Onesub that I can notget out of my mind was my friends old alpine type-r. He had it a while ago and got stolen. My memory might fool me but I think that sub really had a kick and deep bass. Should I just return all the dual stuff and pick up an alpine type-r? Remember I dont need louder I just need some kick not some flat line bass all the time. Thx

What is your low pass crossover set too?

It may be set to high, I recommend 100Hz or lower.

How many cu ft does you sealed box have?

Very few 12 inch subs will work well in an enclosure under 1 cu ft each.

Well today I did some adjustments and I got the stuff to sound how I want it. Not bad at all for $100(2 subs and an amp). Still I am considering returning them and getting two 10" alpines to put in my kenwood boxes. They are a perfect fit for my trunk. Also the dual amp is ridicously large when it delivers 2x75W. Can someone recomend me an amp for the two alpines. Something that goes for
