Dual battery suggestions

I went to a local car stereo place today to look around and got to talking to a guy about upgrading my electrical system. I just got 2 06L7 15's that will be taking 1800W. My truck is an 02 tacoma.

The guy reccommended a Kinetik battery. If I had one of these, and say a optima red or yellow under the hood would that fix most of my dimming issues?

Im just not real clear on the whole electrical system thing. I understand the principles and how to wire stuff but thats about it. I've always had systems under 800W and didn't need to do an upgrade.

The only way to know for sure is to try it out. Most likely though, you'll need to put the supporting pieces in place too. 1/0awg Big 3 and 1/0awg to all the batteries and amps.

yeh i was planning on doin the big three and all power and grounds in 1/0.

The guy was also saying something about a third battery either before or after the kinetik, is that really necessary? I dont feel like it is.

if u do not want to use a battery isolator, try to keep all of your batterys from the same company and about the same age. when mixing optima's and kentiks, you will likely need an isolator also.

ill agree that 3 batteries wont be needed (he might have been talking about a 600 to be used like a cap which is used differently) . i would think 1 2000 or 1 2400 in back would work great.

alright thanks guys! i think he may have been talking about one of the smaller kinetik models.

Let me ask one more question...

Is there a kinetik battery model that I can use under the hood as well as a model I can use in the back?

Can I use a optima up front and one in the back for the same results as the kinetiks?

Thanks.

you can use any kinetik under the hood (a 600 can start a car i wouldnt do it for regular daily though). i have had my 1400 for over a year and beat on it still works flawlessly.

why do people always say to use the same type of batteries? is there any way (without an isolator, dont want the voltage drop) i could keep my stock exide (big battery, 875 cca) under the hood and put my 31 series yellow top in the back?

why would u not use a kinetik 600 for a daily drive there perfect for regular dd
with an audio system of decent size would be alot to ask of it (start the car help run the system and car) . its a 14 lb small battery. i would use it in a drift car or a race car however . if space were limited i would put 2 under the hood but that is just me.
