Dual Alts. How to do it?

I think I'm going to go ahead and throw an extra alt. on my car since I have a spare stocker laying around. (Bosche 150a)

Now, I don't want this discussion to turn into, "Just buy an HO alt..." I'm not going to do it and frankly, I don't "need" to add this second one.

What do I need to do besides a bracket? How does one go about wiring up two alternators?

Do you just jump the positive and negitive wires from the main alt. to the secondary alt.?

There isn't a negative wire.

If it's a one-wire alt, all you have to do is parallel...

gonna need a longer belt too

but if you cant afford a longer belt, just run a few pulleys to a hamster wheel and just let them turn the alt for you

Yeah, I figured the longer belt as well. I should be able to do it without the pulleys.

With metal, yes. But I don't know exactly how just yet.

This is for my CLK 430. I'll post some pics of my engine bay tomorrow so you guys can get a visual and possibly offer me some suggestions on how to mount it.

Yea, a lot are grounded through the chassis but I would prefer a grounding post to run directly to the battery's negative upfront like my Mechman. A decent amount will have this option too

Here's what I'm workin' with. I can't tell if mine is just a one wire alt, but I think it is from what I can see from the backside.

As you can see, I've got plenty of room in that open space right above the alt.

Find a way to relocate or tuck those hoses and mount a second alt. to that ledge. I've had to do the same to my car, except it's not a Benz.
