Dual Alternators?

There is a Guy locally that works on alternators.. and I was talkin to him about wantin a 200Amp alty and he said he would just run 2 alty's instead since I was doing it for car audio reasons.. Would 2 be better than 1? How hard would it be to wire up 2 Alternators and what would I need to get em both working right?? It sounded a little difficult to me..

I didnt get full explanation becuz he was on his cell phone outta town and wont be back for a week..

1 is better than two. For simplistic reasons. You will have to change belts and have a new bracket made or buy one and it become a pain in the ***. Just get a 300amp alt if you need, if you need more than that than you can run two alts.

they dont make 300amp alts for my car.. The dude said he can rig up a bracket easy (he has a metal shop) if i needed it, but he's always outta town on work.. Alternator work is a side job.. Maybe i can get ahold of some more local guys that do it..

yeah thats wut the guy was sayin.. Im not sure how to do all that tho.. like I said, he's a busy man so Ill be on my own

j/w have you talked to excessiveamperage? Running 2 alts is just a bracket, splicing into the 3 wire harness and adding another charging line. You have to get a longer belt most of the time and sometimes additional tensioner's/

yeah he quoted me upward of 300 for a 200amp.. This dude is talkin about under 100 for the 2nd alty.. I just bought a Mojo 2000d.. so will a new alt even be necessary anymore? I was planning on a 4kw
