Since i can wire them together for 1 Ohm, for max power draw it would be best to do so right?

what amp do you recommend on a budget? I still want some headroom as to never clip or distort(do to power lacking)

Sealed will give me better power handling right?

Hifonics HFi1500D-1 ohms: 1500 watts x 1 chan. - $255

SPL FX1-2000D - 1 ohm: 1200 watts x 1 chan. - $200

MB Quart DSC 1500.1D (DSC1500.1D) - 1 ohm: 1500 watts x 1 chan - $230

do i need that much power, i would actually like to spend less than that, the speakers are only going to cost me $220...

also how do you guys feel about sealed for techno, electronic stuff, as well as how will rap be affected. i just don't want my techno to sound like a boomy messy fart. Can a vented enclosure be made to give up some low end to give some more SQ?

thanks in advance, I been doing so much reading around here and am just trying to make sure i grasp everything.

It's not my main, I'm even still debating vented. I guess my logic keeps going baack and forth between SQ and wanting to impress people....and on a budget...not a good combo haha something has to give

also thanks! I'll look into those other amps too

that d class AUDIOPIPE AP15001D

says this:

THIS IS HIGH POWERED AMPLIFIER AND SHOULD BE INSTALLED WITH A 1 FARAD OR HIGHER CAPACITOR!

that just means do a big 3 and have a good/second batt right?

I didn't notice that it said that on any of the sites. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah, you'll want to do the big 3 upgrade for good measure. I can't really tell you anything else about electrical upgrades without knowing what kind of alternator and battery you already have. Even then I'm not a "go to guy" as far as electrical upgrades are concerned.

I rarely get to work on anything big enough to even worry about more than the big 3 and/or a battery. Most of my projects consist of dropping in a set of components and a single sub. Not too many people are worried about getting loud around here...

If you're into matching equipment, you could pick up a pair of those Quart 12"s and a DSC1000.1 for less than $400. However, the DSC1000.1 is a class A/B amp, which means you may have to slightly upgrade your vehicle's electrical system...
i think i'm really leaning to the Audiopipe AP15001d now.

Are those MBQ's really worth saving $20, it just seems like there's so more out there about the Type Rs.....i guess that could be said about xplodes too tho....

Can't really say one way or the other, man. The Type R's are decent starter subs, but those Quarts don't look bad either. If you buy the 2 ohm dvc Quarts, they're only $70 apiece.

I was just throwing out a budget friendly idea...

If i start dimming i think i'll just turn down the volume before I swap an alt haha

i think a d class would be a safer bet just in case my electrical isn't great. I was reading a thread saying the ap15001D will run at .5 daily. does this sound right?

I don't know anything about the Audiopipe amps. I haven't used any of them. I can tell you that you won't need a 1,500 watt amp running @ .5 ohms to sufficiently power a pair of 500 watt subs.

If an amp does 1,500 watts rms @ 1 ohm, it'll do more @ .5. But this is where stuff like impedence rise comes into play, so a lot of this type of discussion is guess work until you can do some solid testing with the equipment...

You could also look into buying a 4 channel amp and bridge it to run a pair of subs. The DSC4125 does 500 watts rms x2 @ 4 ohms. That's perfect for a pair of those 2 ohm dvc MB Quart subs...and you can get a brand new one for less than $160.

Just another budget friendly idea, but much like the DSC1000.1, the 4125 is class A/B. That means moderate electrical upgrades may be needed...

Ok gotcha, thanks so much man. So do you think that pushing either of the 12" pair in a sealed is going to impress, I mean whats your preference, sealed or ported?
I like both, it just depends on the sub. Some subs are better suited to ported applications while others perform better sealed. It's a trade off everyone has to make.
