Dual 4awg vs single 1/0awg???

obviously you have the orion 2500d amps, i thought it only accepts dual 4awg for power and ground???

i don't have the money to run dual 1/0 or it would... my local shop is charging

$5/ft for tsumani 1/0, and $1.50/ft for the 4awg so the dual 4awg would be a lot cheaper.

it is going to either be 2 4awg or a single 1/0gage. i think i can get the 1/0 a lot cheaper somewhere else but who knows.

Ditto on Knewkonceptz.com

How are ya gonna fuse? Running into a distro block may be the best way to go. Get the block and the fuses from Knu for $15 ( 1/0g in and 2 X 4g out / up to 300A). Two birds with one stone.

Also 1/0 is $2.25 to $2.89 / Ft.

Hope that helps.

don't you need the fuse to be around 2ft from the battery so if somewhere between the distro and the battery grounds out then it will still be safe? thats what i am going to do, just put one fuse holder and fuse by the battery and then use a regular unfused distro before the amp...

TypeRBass, you still haven't answered how you have dual runs of 1/0awg strait to an amp that only accepts dual 4awg???

YES!! As close to the battery as possible as that length is NOT protected by a fuse. The fuse if for the wire, not the amps.

I'd go 1/0 from Knu with the distro block...that way you are all set in the event of future upgrades. I for one should have listened to this advice back in the day myself and just went 1/0 from the get go! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

Team Pwnage has found that a single 1/0 run will provide more current then 2 4g runs.

You will want to fuse by the battery no more then 18" away from it.

You dont need a fused distro block, but it is another safty procaution if you wish. The fuse by the battery is for the battery and wire and the fuses on the amp protect the amp. A fused distro will protect the long run from the amp to the front fuse...but...the under hood fuse should blow if there ever is a problem.

For wire, try knukoncepts or weilding supply. Both will be cheaper and just as good.

thanks for that link... there is a lot of very usefull info on that page! now what i can't get figured out is that why would i use 0awg wire that is just going to split into 2 4awg wires going to the amp if the chain is only as strong as the weakest link??? this amp will no allow me to run 0awg strait to the amp, it has 2 4awg inlets.

do fused 1/0 from batt in the front to a battery in the back, then from the battery, run 2 4ga to the amp, would do good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
