Dual 10 " MtX 8500 enclosure build

Using 1" MDF, plenty of wood glue, ahdesive caulk, and some wood putty.

These materials are all incredible. The wood glue has always been my favorite and the ahesive caulking drys rock solid so when caulking the edges it really bonds the boards, instead of silicon which is just a sealant rather than a bond.

Have all of the sides up and caulked. Ready for vent pieces and circle cut-outs on top w/ baffle. Cosmetics tomorow, not sure what im gonna do yet.

Figured I'd get this. Yeah I realize that 1" MDF is definetly overkill. But I wanted somthing that was going to last a long time, be really sturdy and hold together well. I got a really good deal on it. The local lumber shop in town has really good mdf and they had sheets of 3/4 for 30$ and sheets of 1" for 45$ but i had a 20% off coupon so i got a good deal on it.

Couple more build pics, put the terminals in, cut the circles out, and vent hole (no pic) and began sealing the edges with construction adhesive.

Got the specs from MTX and Obcon that matched my woofer and my box chamber volume and decided to go with the labyrinth venting design.

Build looks good, but I just gotta say this.

Obcon's explanation of their 'labyrinth venting design' is a crock of shit. I just watched their explanation video and couldn't help but laugh. Also, they say they have a perfect specific boxs for all these different brands, but when you click on different brands they have the same box just listed a a JL, MTX, Kicker, and crap. They are all just 1.65cuft tuned to 40hz for 12's....thats hilarious.

Yeah i know what you mean, i looked at them for a while. But I talked with the MTX enclosure specialist at mitek and he gave me the specs that matched my cubes. so hopefully it sounds good.

ADD- Got the primer on the box, not sure if im gonna paint it black, or get it Line-X'd. The 1" MDF already makes the box so **** heavy, ill probably just paint the thing black and call it good.

Got the primer on. It really helped seal anything that I missed. All of the inside edges are caulked and sealed. Need to do some final sanding prep with some 180 grit before putting the black over the top. Probably just going to go Satan Black paint.

Got the first layers of paint on the box. Looking good so far. Hopefulyl dropping the subs in tomorow night and having a test vid.

awesome. i used to have a single 12 inch 8500 and i loved it. i beat the piss out of that thing and it took it like a champ.

i always wanted to do 4 of them.
