**** Dsl

Both DSL and cable have their advantages and disadvantages. But IMO if you want a rock solid connection that always does its rated speed, nothing beats business grade dsl. Of course for premium service with a SLA, you're going to pay a premium price.

If your having trouble though, check out http://www.dslreports.com All sorts of information and help on the forums, even have forums for individual cable and dsl providers.

He was complaining about down speed too. As stated eariler though, the speed on DSL is completely dictated by distance, so you're either going to have fast up and down, or slow both

Its not completely dictated by distance. Certainly distance from the CO is a major factor. However the quality of your ISP (overselling thier line from the CO or the DSLAM) as well as other things like SNR or the backbone provider also play a big part in overall line quality and performance.

DSL will own cable when all is upgraded to fiber optic and will be more efficient at distances
By the time that happens, either a) computers as we know them today will be gone or b) people would have finally realized that the solution to the "last mile" problem is over-the-air service...

Haha. What are you talking about mang? My DSL works just fine.. usually download around 200-300kbps..
DSL is all based on distance.. so you must be pretty far away from the place your getting your service from.

As for your browser taking 4 mins to load a page that says no data... that basically means that you went to nothing. Either you got the URL wrong or the server is down.

Also, try searchin' your computer for viruses, spyware, and adware.

I must recommend Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-aware SE Personal and Norton Anti Virus~
Well for everyday browsing or what not its ok. I dont see much difference. Just sometimes it will be hella slow. And I can NEVER upload anything.

dont feel like readin the whole thread, but anyway... i use to work in dsl, what company u got? do you know your distance? how are your signal levels reading at your modem?
its SBC. Also to mention, it doesnt even let me log into the godam SBC browser, account, messenger etc. And I can never get any help from SBC. **** knockers.
