was thinking to day about a down firing set up n shit , and got curious bout it . . . whats the point of it any incite woudl b great full to know

Down firing a subwoofer in a vehicle serves almost on purpose. If size allows, a well designed ported enclosure will be way better in every way.

if youre low on power, which you must not be thinkin of a type x, downfiring can benefit a lower powered system with lower grade subs. It can help them sound much cleaner at low frequencies( you wont hear the unloading!) not good for long periods of playtime.But it is different and worth a shot. I did one for one 12 on 150 rms and it was very impressive,for a 150 dollar set up. good thing about building your own enclosures, if you dont like it,trash it and build something else. good luck.

I have 2 fifteen inch subs in a downfiring ported sub box,In my full size ext cab chevy. I am currently the Az State 2010 mod 1001-2000 Champ at 146.5 Decibels. I have not placed below 3rd place in Sb3 or mod 1001-2000 since having this set up....
