Doubting my pg 1200.1

I'm not sure i'm understanding this birthsheet right. First they tested my amp at 14.22 volts which is something alot of us will never really achieve in our cars. Second it is stable at 2 ohms yet they give no ratings whatsoever. Also if ur car is only hitting 12.5 volts u get a measley 250 watts rms. This is starting to eat me up i dont know what to do. they also give you the dynamic power but no real power. I dont get 14 volts easily at all. Ne one else having problems?

yes, i too am not getting the full potential out of mine either. I have narrowed it down to me needing a batt and alt for it. Cause it sucks alot of power. and without adiquite batt/alt I don't think I can get it up to full potential. Kinda eating me up too.

I had a Tantrum 1200.1 to. I loved the lows with that amp, BUT... power wise it S-U-C-K-E-D.

It didn't even move my sub. I was so pissed I just turned the gain all the way up to see how loud it would get. It didn't get ANY louder. BTW, I had it at 2ohms.

That amp was one of my biggest disapointments I've had in car audio.

Tantrum 1200.1 .... Ha!!!

More like.. Tantrum 200.1

yeah, my birthsheet says it puts out 1507 at 4ohms with 14.4volts.

I am sure this amp will probably put out numbers like that if you have an elec system that can power it properly. I do not have a HO alt or Yellow Top yet.

im pretty happy with mine. its putting out at least 400 watts to each of my 12L5s. powering it is a big problem tho, drops the volts down to about 12 when the bass hits and dims the lights badly. maybe its a hit or miss or somthing in the installation? seems like alot of people are happy with them.

i like mine fine, took awhile to tune it to sound real good but now it pounds. i have it running off stock alt and battery from my winter car "94 sunbird 4 door" and it still pounds.

actually when the car is on, you are giving it 14.2-14.4 voltsonly when the car is off and it is running solely from the battery will it get only 12ish volts

Maybe when you turn your car on by itself yes, but when you have a lot of power draw such as a PG1200.1 or any other big amp or multiple amps, its not easy to maintain a 14.4v by any means. You need good solid big wires, grounds, good alt, batts, and crap to keep up a 14.4v with powerful car audio.

its funny how all you guys are talking b.s. about this amp..

i haven't had a problem with mine whatsoever. it does put out a lot of power esp to move my 13 like the way it does at its high ohm load..... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, maybe someone should go back to school and learn how to adjust an amp / wire some subs/ construct a box/ or even make sure their car can handle the juice........

i'm sick of rookies hookin up something f'n it up then sayings its the product that's not right.... i'm sorry but i can't let any of you talk shyt about this amp esp when its badass... now if you want to come to ga and see this what this thing can do, you're more than welcome.

Yes, it is "rated" @ 250W @ 4 ohms @12V. Why? Because under IASCA rules that is the rating that determines power class for competition. Is that all it will put out at 12V? Are you kidding. Do you honestly think that an increase in voltage of 16% will increase power output by 500%. The amp is underrated, by a large margin. Almost all of the PG amps are simply because they are gaming the IASCA power rating system. Unless you have some serious electrical issues with your car, it should maintain mid 13's on the voltage even under load. If it isn't then you need to upgrade your underhood wiring. If it still isn't maintaining voltage, then you need to 1) turn down the stereo and 2) get a new alternator.

Well I just got mine yesterday. I haven’t tried it yet because I’m still waiting on the extras: 200 Amps Alternator, and my 1/0g power and grounds, plus the 4g wires as well and oh yeah a 1fr Stinger Cap, etc.. So will see what this baby can do once and for all. I’ll keep you posted.
