I can't imagine any set-up where 1/0 isn't enough in the couple feet it's ran. Even under 6ft 4gauge is good for what, 200amps?Can you double up? Sure. Will it be useful? Nah... As long as you're using 1/0 to begin with you should be fine.
I agree w/ you.
But the wire must be properly terminated.
I work at a shop here in Monroe, La, and the #1 system trouble shooting problem I see is improper termination.
Horrible crimps, cold solder, power wire just wrapped around the batt post (uhg....way too many of these from shade-tree installs)
I have sold FAR too many used amps come back due to horrible termination. (we offer no warranty on used amps, we test them on the front counter for the customer on the front bench to show they work properly before they buy them)
Hell, I have seen vehicles catch fire in our parking lot due to crap installs (non-fused)....picture me running out the door w/ wire cutters and a vehicle rolling in smoke in the parking lot....lmao. All because customers "had a friend that knows what they are doing" install the equipment.
Rather than paying my $85 amp-install (which i feel is more than reasonable, good crimps and all amp installs over 50A are get soldered power/ground)
